"Just became a fan of Frank Horvat...pianist and virtuoso. The moment before
poetry becomes words it is this deeply intimate, emotional and spiritually
transcendent music. I am haunted by its beauty still, the morning after. Then
there was the whole experience of watching Frank’s shadow come to life on the
wall behind him. Have not found words for that yet..." Kathleen Burke, May '09 House Concert
Pianist and composer, Frank Horvat, is now available for house concerts!
Are you a music lover and always wanted to invite over your acquaintances for a night of live piano music in the comfort of your own home?
Are you a musician who is interested in the house concert concept and might like to do a musical house concert exchange?
House Concert Details:
A house concert is a live music event in which someone opens up their home and invites their friends to share in an intimate and informal performance by a musician. The host will sell tickets to those attendees (usually between $10-20) and pass on the proceeds to the artist. The number of people attending depends on the amount of space available in the host's home. It can be anywhere from 10 to 60 people.
People host house concerts because there might be few venues where they can go to experience great music in a close and friendly environment. Many host such events because they enjoy sharing great music with their inner circle. An article about house concerts in the New York Times in late 1999 estimated that about 500 people across the US were hosting house concerts on some kind of regular basis. The numbers continue to grow!
